Being a British Touring Car fan, albeit a lapsed one as I’ve not seen a race for about a year (I must fix that), when we went to the World of Volvo in Gothenburg and I found they had Rickard Rydell’s Volvo 850, well I had to check it out, I mean such an impressive car that in my head that when I look at it’s record, whilst it was good, it was not as great as I remembered it. I mean, in my head it blitzed the competition and kept on doing so with subsequent drivers, but I was completely wrong, they only found success with the S40 and in the alternate universe in my head, Alan Menu also raced the 850, which he certainly did not, but I think that might be me mixing up the Renault team which I think at some point was twinned with Williams, but don’t trust my memory.

Whilst looking at the cars, the video on loop reminded me of Rydell’s team mate Jan Lammers which is a blast from the past and in my head he’s also a complete legend. But we now know what’s in my head, and it might all be inaccurate.

The whole building at World of Volvo is really impressive with a swish cafe/restaurant in there too, though we didn;t try that out too much. We were fresh off an early flight and desperate for food, so rather than wait 20 minutes for the lunch menu to start, we just ate whatever they had.

And if you like lego, there’s a lego XC40 for you to admire.
