Chitty Chitty Boat Man
MATLOCK BATHBOATREFLECTIONS
I had a choice of two pictures this week of this boat, and I think this just edges it. In fact I would have preferred a cross between the two. The other one was less zoomed in but there was no texture on the water, so you got the boat and the reflection, but it looked like it was floating in nothingness, however you got a steam of water off the right oar which was just a nice features, but I think this one was better because of the reflections around and slightly behind the boat giving the boat some context.
Just for a bit more details, these are the illuminations at Matlock Bath, which I have never been before, and unlike usual illuminations where you walk or drive past them, these float past you, which is novel.
We turned up an hour before the illuminations and headed off to find something to eat and there didn’t seem like a good selection, what with the seaside vibe of the place meant fish and chips are the order of the day. Yes the landlocked town of Matlock Bath has a seaside vibe. But I believe that’s due to its popularity as a spa town in Victorian times.
Despite the over-representation of chips, we did find the New China Rose which was just what the doctor ordered and really reasonably priced and everyone enjoyed their food which means there will be a return visit I am sure.
After food it was a walk down to the river to view the illuminations. They were all very good, but nothing really wowed, but I suspect that’s the problem with having them on rowing boats, so there was never going to be anything massive. Despite that they all did veery weel in the cold and all the boats looked really good, though you may be able to guess that my favorite was Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
