We did choose the best day to go out and walk this weekend apparently, even though I was completely bored yesterday and would have willingly walked anywhere (and probably should have). Today was a visit to Healey Dell in Rochdale, which I had very little info on other than we had not been and there was a viaduct there.and it was supposed to be quite nice there. Initially we ended up in the far car park which was confusing and the signs didn’t help direct us anywhere and in face I think we ended up heading out of the nature reserve, so we drove back to the other car park that was signed at which point it looked a little more hospitable.

It was an interesting walk, but quite similar to anywhere else you may have been, that was an old railway and I have been on a few and they all look the same really, straight and a cutting through trees on either side, with the risk of being run over by cyclists at any moment. Mind you I keep on meaning to walk the Fallowfield Loop, but I expect that to be very similar.

Rather than give you a standard pic of the arches disappearing in the that carried the railway, I thought that I would give you an alternative view and my favorite picture of the lot, in my opinion. To me it looks an interesting shape with the legs of the viaduct running an an angle to the direction of the track. I can only assume this was done so that the legs would face the flow of the river at 90 degrees, but since the track didn’t cross the river at 90 degrees it was all set at an angle.
