SANDAL CASTLEBIRDSKESTREL

4/13/20251 min read

With the weather promising to be awful, we headed out anyway and were rewarded by some nice weather. The light was a little poor just coming out of winter, but not completely rubbish. The first stop was Sandal Castle which was an alright castle just outside Wakefield. Despite being very little there, it seems popular, so we were in good company I suppose.

As we walked around the back of the castle, the land dropped off and the wind was coming in which allowed this Kestrel to head into the wind and hover at around eye height, which was great for the Kestrel, but a poor shot, unless you like taking pictures of birds arses. Anyway, it was patient as it hunted but we were a little more patient. It decided to relocate. Looking for a better place to hunt, it passed overhead. It was hard to track with the camera, but as it moved over I took a couple of shots, so I am a little surprised it’s in focus, it didn’t give me a lot of time.
