Mandarin Duck
DUCKETHEROWPARK

Finally some time to actually have a walk, even though my walking speed is a little hampered at the moment, it’s still great to get out of the house and not have to think about doing something useful instead which has been a feature of many of my weekends for the last few months. In fact I can’t remember when I had a day when I could spend it as I pleased.
So Etherow park it was, not massively exciting, but it was good enough and here’s where I med this little chap, and a chap he is as the females are not as colourful. Not native to the UK, the Mandarin Duck seems to have escaped someone’s collection and now number about 7000 in the UK. I must admit I like them, they’re pretty, but I don’t see them as something you would want to have in your house. A parakeet maybe (which are also an invasive species), but I don’t see why you would want to keep a Mandarin Duck.
I am pretty sure I have a better picture of one of these fellas, but this is more to mark the fact that I have got out of the house.
